Father’s Day is Coming–Game On!

Here at Family Footnote, we’ve got some ideas to celebrate the dads and grandpas in your life. Get your celebration on with these three categories of gifts.

Game-On

If your husband is like mine, there is nothing he loves more than a game of golf, corn-hole, or some time to fish. Consider giving your favorite father, brother, or husband a day of golfing, some driving range passes, or even an indoor putting range to put somewhere in the house or garage. If corn-hole or ladder ball is more his style, Amazon has some great deals on those games. Finally, just a fishing permit, a new pole, and a great tackle box could make your guy smile for weeks.

Love-On

If you want to tug at your dude’s heart strings, ask the kids to write down their favorite things about Daddy or Grandpa. There is a product called The Love Book, which allows sons and daughters to personalize a book for their father or grandfather. Another home-made idea is to put together a picture collage of the kids with dad, or photograph them holding a sign of what they love the most about their super hero father. A coupon book full of ways they plan to help their dad around the house is a classic idea that never fails to make dads happy. Coupons for yard clean-up, breakfast making, or watering the garden work to make him smile. Finally, a cute blog we love has a free printable that your children can print and fill in for their dad. You can get it here. No matter what, our dads need to feel that their hard work and love matter. There is no better way to confirm that than by letting the kids explain this in their own words.

Brew-On

Finally, there is nothing like a craft brew and some pub food to spoil a father figure or paternal guardian on their special day. Look for local breweries around your area, and take your guys out for some fun. Many of these places have board games for adults and kids alike, otherwise plan ahead and bring along a deck of cards. Significant others can spring for a babysitter and an Uber or Lyft, and take a Father’s Day honoree out on the town for a night. If your guy isn’t a craft brew sort, find a new place to try in town that he would love. Coffee shops, bagel shops, and donut stops are all winners. Raising boys from birth, I can tell you there is no better way to their hearts than through their stomachs.

The guys in our lives work very hard. This list of options will help to celebrate the awesomeness they bring. What are  your plans for Father’s Day this year?
