Footnote 5: Top Five Reasons to Love Summer

Fall used to be my favorite season, but sometime in the last few years summer eclipsed that title in my mind. I adore summertime. I embrace the heat. I enjoy the school-free weeks. There are only 92 summer days per season, and each one is an opportunity to make lasting memories.

Here are my top 5 reasons for loving the summertime:

1- Make-up free days.

During the summer I gain some confidence in natural beauty. I skip my morning routine that typically calls for foundation, mascara, and eyeliner. During summertime, I am okay in knowing that most days all my face needs is sunscreen and a good moisturizer.

2-Family walks in the evenings.

We are quite the troop with three kids on bikes, a baby (and geriatric dog) in the stroller plus our new pooch straining on the leash to chase every rabbit in sight. The walks will last a few blocks or stretch out for miles, it all depends on the heat, the bugs, and/or my family’s mood.

3-Fire pits, fire flies, and fire works.

4- Macklemore’s duet with Kesha called “Good Old Days” is always on the radio.

This tune has been out since September of 2017, but to me it is the song of the summer. Download it into your life!

5- Late nights and late mornings.

Summer does not adhere to a bedtime because there are too many memories being made.
