Family Footnote 5: Five Underrated Things about Autumn
There are many wonderful things about the fall season, such as: changing leaves, pumpkin patches, and high school games under the Friday night lights. Beyond the obvious, here is my list of underrated autumn happenings that make the start of the fall season a terrific time of year. Oh, and just a heads up: Fall officially starts on Sunday, September 22nd!
1-Scarfs
An infinity scarf or pashmina can turn pajama tops and yoga pants into a trendy outerwear outfit in 60 seconds. So cover those necks and shoulders now that the cooler temperatures are arriving. Wardrobe Win!
2-Fall Flavors
Pumpkin Spice is not the only flavor in town during harvest time. Maple bacon, apple glaze, cinnamon dolce, hazelnut, salted caramel, and gingerbread also pack a punch for aroma and taste when it comes to the lattes and frappuccinos of autumn.
3-Cozy Up and Read
Say goodbye to the mindless beach reads and hello to snuggling up near the fireplace thanks to the impending daylight savings. Autumn is a perfect time for a narrative that is scary and sinister. I cannot wait to get my fingertips on the pages of the most recent Robert Galbraith book titled Lethal White. I would also recommend The Wife Between Us by Greer Hendriks & Sarah Pekkanen. It’s dark and mysterious, which means fans of Gone Girl or the writer Gillian Flynn should love it.
4-Relax
Chaotic September is coming to a close, which means breathing room is in sight for October.
5-No Need to Spring Clean
There is no such thing as “Fall Cleaning” so break out the board games and/or watch football without even a hint of guilt!
