I Love My New Stuff!

The holidays brought a lot of new stuff to my household. Bookshelves are overflowing with must-read series and my closet is re-stocked with new tops. Some of my new items are making such a splash in our household that I feel compelled to share. Keep reading to see if these things are wish-list worthy.

Dryer Balls

My mom got all of her adult children some Nellie’s All Natural Laundry Soap, along with dryer balls. These little wool spheres came in a set of three and are meant to replace dryer sheets. I am in love with them. They are like these things that I always needed, but never actually knew I needed.

The balls keep clothes from bunching up and sticking in the dryer. By keeping the wet laundry from clumping together, there is more air circulating which equals faster drying times. I also read in an article that the dryer balls reduce static and make clothes, towels, and bedding fluffier.

Dryer balls are a great substitute for fabric softeners and dryer sheets. Plus they are advertised to be good for 1000 loads (which in my house constitutes six months or less, but the rest of the world could get 2-5 years out of these little orbs of wool).

Peekaboos Ponytail Hat

Last season all of the ladies were wearing crochet beanies with a hole at the top for a high ponytail or messy bun. Or was it the season before? I am always late to the fashion game. Either way, I had been on the lookout throughout December for one of these cool stocking hats, but was having no luck. My hair just never looked that great looped through a winter beanie and piled on top of my head.

Enter: Peekaboos Classic Cable. A friend of mine gave me this style of stocking cap which has two hidden holes for a ponytail or braid. One opening allows for a very low ponytail and the other is located more at mid-range of the back of the head. The openings are slits, which means they are not noticeable if a person decides to forego the pony and just stick with her hair down.

These hats are warm and cute and I love mine! Thank you friend!

Phone Chargers and Cable Cords by heyday

We have so many chargers and cable cords in our house, yet I still cannot ever find one to work with my phone when I really need it. So this past fall I bought myself a cute olive green heyday wall charger with matching cable plus a car charger. The fashion friendly color alerts my entire household that these bits of phone charging equipment solely belong to me. Penalty loss of privileges have been threatened should anyone else, including my spouse, be caught with my guacamole hued chargers.

Sometimes as an adult it is nice to be reminded that a person does not have to share absolutely everything when it comes to possessions. I know my ten-year-old likes my charger, but she already takes my earrings, notebooks, pens, purses, scarfs, and sometimes sanity. So hands off the pretty chargers that I bought for my very outdated phone.

These adorable accessories are available in a variety of fun colors. I even noticed Target sells a wireless charging pad by this electronics line. I may check it out in the future, when it is on clearance. Technology comes for me in baby steps.

New stuff is fun. Did anyone else get a new gift that makes life sunnier? Or the bathrooms cleaner? Or the kids quieter? Please, share your secrets with Family Footnote. Or me, at least!

Oven mats to catch the spills from pies and casseroles that overflow in the oven is a must have. I was given one at Christmas 3 years ago. Mine is finally showing some wear and tear but still wipes clean easily.
