I Interviewed a Spelling Champion

Magazines have long lead times because they want quality interviews and beautiful prose. Black Hills FACES is no exception. I interviewed the South Dakota State Spelling Bee champ back in August for this publication and the article turned out great. The champ’s name is Brendan Lindsey and his story is now available online and in print.

Brendan Lindsey won the 2019 South Dakota bee and went on to the National Bee in D.C.

East River

I love writing for this quarterly magazine and being their East River contributor. West River and the Black Hills are beautiful, but so is the eastern side of South Dakota.

There are many amazing people, like Brendan, living in East River and doing great things. To be a spelling bee champion, one must be dedicated. The work ethic it takes to learn, memorize, and recall word origins and rules is unparalleled.

Black Hills FACES

The quarterly magazine, Black Hills FACES, is a dream writing experience for me. I get to meet awesome people, work on my photography skills, and do what I love best: WRITE!
