These 12 Days of Winter, My Children Gave to Me…

On the first day of winter, my children gave to me:

1 minute to myself.

(One which I sat in silence and stared straight ahead.)

The twelve days of Christmas feel like the 75 days of Christmas. Here is what my children gave to me this winter.

On the second day of winter, my children gave to me:

2 different viruses.

(Thank you sinus infection and fever.)

On the third day of winter, my children gave to me:

3 unsolicited hugs.

(At the perfect time, too. I love those kiddos.)

On the fourth day of winter, my children gave to me:

Four times microwaving my coffee cup.

(Hot coffee is overrated, right? Did moms invent iced coffee?)

On the fifth day of winter my children gave to me:

Five loads of laundry.

(Where I found two chapsticks and three mini candy wrappers.)

On the sixth day of winter, my children gave to me:

Six different social activities.

(Schedule Tetris is our favorite. How can my husband and I clone ourselves?)

On the seventh day of winter, my children gave to me:

Seven mismatched socks.

(It’s too soon to talk about this. Why do they never match?)

On the eighth day of winter, my children gave to me:

8 times of hearing “Mom” repeated.

On the ninth day of winter, my children gave to me:

9 half-full glasses of beverages abandoned around the house.

On the tenth day of winter, my children gave to me:

10 belly laughs of fun.

(My kids are hilarious. Especially all together.)

On the eleventh day of winter, my children gave to me:

11 times of changing them in and out of their winter gear.

On the last day of winter, my children gave to me:

12 reasons to be thankful I’m their mom.

Oh winter, you can leave any time now. But until then, I’ll keep counting all of the things my children give to me. #blessed
