The Local Newspaper

I am fortunate to have work as a freelance writer, especially during this uncertain time associated with COVID-19. My writing routine has not changed much, except I have gained a few extra coworkers within my home office space due to school closures.

My posts with Family Footnote and submissions to the Dakota Dunes/North Sioux City Times help me be positive. Writing for these outlets also allow me to stay productive (and sane).

It feels good to reach out to individuals via email and phone for interviews. Talking with others and connecting is so important during this COVID-19 pandemic. My latest piece for the Dakota Dunes/North Sioux City Times centered around Holy Week and how local churches are answering the call to still serve members.

Over the past few weeks, I also loved visiting with parents and educators on ways to keep their children engaged and learning from home. My two articles on this subject are full of great and practical ideas. Click on the titles below to read parts of these articles:

I believe that local papers contribute so much to communities. Please start or keep reading their stories, buying their issues, and subscribing!
