A Fun Father’s Day Story

The Dakota Dunes/North Sioux City Times asked me to write a Father’s Day piece on Dr. Andrew Bourne for their upcoming issue and what came out of it was a heartwarming write-up titled Bourne Celebrates Father’s Day as a Dad, Son.

You think you know someone because they coach your daughter or live nearby, and then you start asking background questions and gain a new and great perspective. This is exactly why I love my freelance writing gig.

Kelly’s husband and daughters with Bourne and his daughters.

The chance to interview a friend and learn a lot in the process is a work perk I will always enjoy. Sometimes with writing jobs, I get to chose the interview subject. Other times (as was the case for this piece) the publisher will want me to reach out to a specific person. Each circumstance can be fun and enlightening.

Happy Father’s Day to all of the dads, grandpas, uncles, stepfathers, guardians, foster parents, and role models who make a difference. Family Footnote loves and appreciates you all!
