Cheers to Two Years of Family Footnote!

When you celebrate anniversaries with the ones you love, it’s fun to reflect on where you’ve been and to dream about where you are going. Kelly and I have been friends for twenty years, but every year that friendship evolves into a special kind of partnership. Family Footnote is two years old now, and just like our very own two-year-olds, we are learning to walk in this world of blogging. From its birth, this has been one of the best gifts we could have given ourselves. I’ve had fun exploring many topics, but my top five posts are listed below:

  1. Building Grit in our Kids
  2. My Instant Pot; A Love Story
  3. What if We Loved Our Teens Like They Were Still Kids
  4. Feed Your Fire
  5. Saying No

The gifts Family Footnote has given Kelly and me are endless. But, here are the top three gifts we never saw coming from this community.

  • Support from the parents in the world. Readers, we love you. You are incredibly patient, intelligent, caring, and brave. We hear your stories, read your comments, and listen to your successes. What you share with our community of parents gives insight on how to parent in a complicated world. There isn’t a day that goes by where we don’t grow as people because of your perspectives. Thank you for sharing with us.
  • New friends in the writing world. There is a lot of talk surrounding the negative impact of social media. Kelly and I have been invited to join so many supportive blogging communities where writers lift each other up. There is constant support for the art of writing, making it so much fun to put work out into the world. Ideas are shared, resources are given, and discussions emerge around important issues of today. This writing community is incredibly supportive.
  • Publication opportunities. Kelly and I have been given opportunities we could have never imagined before birthing Family Footnote. We’ve gotten to review products, meet authors, listen to parents, and find publication in poetry, print magazines, literary journals, satirical sites, etc. This world of blogging has become an evolution of invitations to take our craft to the next level, and for that we are so thankful.

We love where we’ve been and we are looking forward to where we are going. Our goals involve finishing our novels, reviewing more places and products, and stretching ourselves to become a valuable resource for readers needing a connection. Cheers to two fun years and many more to come.
