A Story of Giving

There are good stories out there and when I get the chance to write them it is a fantastic feeling.

Especially now, during these crazy times filled with chaos, anger, and stress. I was very excited to highlight an act of true kindness for this piece titled, “Holiday Giving for a Mom and Many Others“. It was published in the Dakota Dunes/North Sioux City Times.

Becky with her mom and children.

Everyone is busy and and everyone is worried, but generous deeds continue to happen. Becky Granstrom was who I interviewed for this piece and her story is the perfect thing to read and celebrate right now.

For the past few years Becky has organized an annual holiday giving tree for the residents at a skilled nursing home. The cause is near to her heart because Becky’s mother is one of the residents. Her mom is fighting multiple sclerosis (MS) and over the years everyone at the facility has become like extended family to Becky.

As a freelance writer, I am very proud to be able to write for the local paper. It is a small business, like so many, that continues to work diligently despite probably being hit hard during this pandemic. The stories they share and the news they print keep a community connected.
