Mental Health Awareness

October is Mental Health Awareness month. And now, more than ever, individuals should be paying attention to anxiety, depression, and emotional highs and lows. The ongoing pandemic, approaching holidays, and everyday struggles can all contribute to stress, so it is important to take notice.

The Dakota Dunes/North Sioux City Times let me run with a profile piece that centered around mental health awareness. It was published this week.

I was fortunate to know someone with the title of “mental health therapist”, but in all honestly I had no clue what it was she did at work. Now I know and I wish we had more people working in healthcare like Erin Bonstead. She was a great interview and very candid in her responses. I asked a lot of questions and got a lot of straight answers. My Q/A with her gave me a high appreciation for those that work with the mentally ill.

Bonstead brought up how there is a spectrum when it comes to mental illness and awareness is vital. Click here to read a portion of the published article. To see the full story or sign-up for a subscription to this publication, please contact the Dakota Dunes/NSC Times.
